"Pack Your Bag" Program

Another Great Resource: NCOA and CVS Partner with Senior Centers to Present the "Pack Your Bag" Program

Pack Your Bag LogoLocal CVS pharmacists visit senior centers and conduct free information sessions on medication issues of greatest concern to older adults, such as preventing drug interactions, managing medications effectively, and Medicare Part D.

CVS pharmacists also spend time one-on-one with older adults to help them understand all of their prescription and over-the-counter medications, potential interactions, proper storage, and generics.

In over 5,500 consultations, CVS pharmacists have discovered that:

  • 7% of seniors were taking expired medications
  • 15% were not taking medications as prescribed
  • 10% were at risk for potential drug interactions
  • 15% had the opportunity to switch to money-saving generics.

Learn more about the Pack Your Bag program. To learn how your organization can participate, contact Gina Hill at 202-479-6970.
