President Proclaims November Family Caregivers Month

In his proclamation, the President noted, "Every day, family caregivers assist loved ones with tasks ranging from personal care and homemaking, to transportation and financial assistance. As the foundation of America's long-term care system, these individuals give millions of Americans the peace of mind and security that only family can provide."

Family caregiver and her parentsSponsored each year by the National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA), National Family Caregivers Month focuses on the challenges facing those who care for loved ones.

Family caregivers provide a vast array of emotional, financial, nursing, social, homemaking and other services to senior and disabled loved ones.

Some family caregivers serve on a part-time basis, while others provide 24/7 care for loved ones who require assistance for all daily living activities. Family caregiving can extend for a few years or a lifetime.
